Itsuma Tanaka

Itsuma is a leader in innovation with a strong passion for telecommunications technologies. He has represented NTT DOCOMO and Japan in many standardisation meetings, such as GSMA IREG/NG and 3GPP SAx/CTx, not only as a delegate but as a chairperson and editor of many technical documents that allow 4G and 5G networks connected around the world.

Throughout the career, he has led various telecom R&D projects that became essential parts of 4G LTE and 5G, including Earthquake and Tsunami Warning System, Access Control mechanisms, CS Fallback, and VoLTE S8HR Roaming, and the world’s first commercialization of 5G roaming, just to name a few.

Previously as an HR manager and senior manager of mobile roaming services, Itsuma also has deep knowledge of corporate and telecom business management.

Itsuma studied Information Systems Engineering (MEng) at Imperial College London UK in 2004 and received a Master of Business Administration at ESADE Barcelona in 2017. He was born in Kobe, Japan, and is a father of two wonderful children.
