On January 28th, 2026, GSMA organized a live webinar to provide an overview of the objectives, structure, and work programme of the 6G community.
Dr. Malla Reddy Sama, Chief Architect and Head of 3GPP SA Standards at DOCOMO Euro-Labs, participated to the webinar moderated by Dr. Morteza Kheirkhah (Technical Director – Networks, GSMA) with Dr. Tao Sun (Chief Expert at China Mobile & 3GPP SA Vice Chair), Dr. Wen Tong (CTO, Wireless Network, Huawei Technologies) and Prof. Rahim Tafazolli (Director of 6GIC, ICS, Surrey University).
The session highlighted how industry can collaboratively shape the evolution of AI-native, compute-aware, and service-centric 6G networks. The speakers provided their views on how the community is progressing towards 6G technology, from both a research and standardisation perspective.
6G standardization is critically important for DOCOMO to ensure that 6G delivers high-quality connectivity and value-added services over a highly resilient and energy-efficient network. As rapporteur for the 3GPP SA2 6G Study Item, Dr. Sama is at the forefront of shaping industry-wide consensus on the expected architecture and capabilities of future 6G mobile networks.
