On Wednesday 21 June, 2023, a joint workshop between O-RAN Alliance and ETSI ISG NFV took place during the O-RAN Alliance face-to-face meeting in Osaka, Japan.

ETSI organized a conference on the “Evolution of NFV towards the next decade” on 6 and 7 March to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ETSI NFV. NTT DOCOMO delegates participated actively at the event delivering various presentations and receiving NFV awards.

In February 2022, NTT DOCOMO opened the new website to advertise the activities of OREC (5G Open RAN Ecosystem), a project launched in February 2021 by NTT DOCOMO and 12 global vendors to promote the dissemination of open RANs.

NTT Docomo published an issue of the Technical Journal that includes special articles on 3GPP 5G Release 16 and co-creation of services with vertical industries.

DOCOMO Communications Laboratories Europe GmbH (DOCOMO Euro-Labs) was established in November 2000 in Munich, Germany. DOCOMO Euro-Labs’ mission is to contribute to the evolution of future mobile systems. Important research areas include 5G technologies, emerging network technologies and architecture. As a part of its research, DOCOMO Euro-Labs participates in standardization activities as well as technology investigation and technology scouting. To achieve our mission, DOCOMO Euro-Labs takes advantage of its location and collaborates with European operators, vendors, venture companies and universities and contributes to standardization activities (mainly 3GPP and ETSI) and Verticals associations (mainly NGMN, 5GAA, 5G-ACIA).

The 5G-ACIA Plenary on January 19-21 approved the publication of a White Paper on “Integration of 5G with Time-Sensitive Networking for Industrial Communications”. The White Paper is available in the 5G-ACIA website.

The 5G-ACIA General Assembly elected the new Board members: NTT DOCOMO is represented in the Board.

The 5GAA 6th General Assembly held electronically the 27th of May 2020 elected the new Board Members and Governance. NTT DOCOMO was successfully re-elected as Board Member for the next term until GA#7 July 2021.

NTT DOCOMO joins the 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) with the aim of further advancing the use of 5G technology in the manufacturing sector.

The MEDIEVAL (MultimEDia transport for mobile Video AppLications) project, a 3 year project partially funded by the EU under the STREP umbrella has received an excellent feedback for its final audit in October 2013.

NTT DOCOMO today announced that it will exhibit a variety of mobile products, services and technologies, including NFC international roaming and High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), a new global standard for video compression, at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain from February 25 to 28.
