NTT DOCOMO OPENS THE NEW OREC PROJECT WEBSITE

In February 2022, NTT DOCOMO opened the new website to advertise the activities of OREC (5G Open RAN Ecosystem), a project launched in February 2021 by NTT DOCOMO and 12 global vendors to promote the dissemination of open RANs.

Since 2005, DOCOMO Euro-Labs is at the forefront in pre-standardization and standardization of 3GPP Core Network. Now, we are looking for a 5G Standardization Researcher to further boost our activities and adoption of 5G and next generation networks for vertical applications within NTT DOCOMO and the telecom industry at large.

JOAN TRIAY AT IEEE NFV-SDN 2021 AND LAYER123 WORLD CONGRESS 2021

Joan Triay, manager at DOCOMO Euro-Labs, participated in November to two renowned international events: IEEE NFV-SDN 2021 and Layer123 World Congress 2021, showcasing how NTT DOCOMO and ETSI NFV activities are at the forefront of the digital transformation journey that the industry is undertaking with the introduction of 5G and beyond.

5G SUPPORT FOR EDGE COMPUTING: 3GPP TSG SA WG2 PUBLISHES A NEW TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

The 3GPP Technical Specification Group Service and System Aspects (TSG SA) Working Group 2 (SA2) published on 24 September 2021 a new Technical Specification on “5G System Enhancements for Edge Computing”. TS 23.548, which was created for Release 17, defines the Stage 2 specifications for 5G System enhancements to support Edge Computing.

DOCOMO Communications Laboratories Europe GmbH (DOCOMO Euro-Labs) was established in November 2000 in Munich, Germany. DOCOMO Euro-Labs’ mission is to contribute to the evolution of future mobile systems. Important research areas include 5G technologies, emerging network technologies and architecture. As a part of its research, DOCOMO Euro-Labs participates in standardization activities as well as technology investigation and technology scouting. To achieve our mission, DOCOMO Euro-Labs takes advantage of its location and collaborates with European operators, vendors, venture companies and universities and contributes to standardization activities (mainly 3GPP and ETSI) and Verticals associations (mainly NGMN, 5GAA, 5G-ACIA).

EURO-LABS’ MEMBER JOAN TRIAY RE-ELECTED AS ETSI NFV TECHNICAL MANAGER

ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) is the home of the Industry Specification Group (ISG) Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). The ETSI NFV has delivered and continuous to work on informative reports and normative specifications that enable the telecom industry to adopt virtualization and Cloud technologies, which facilitate network operators to make the deployment and operations of telco networks more efficient.

NTT DOCOMO RE-ELECTED TO THE 5GAA BOARD

The 5GAA 6th General Assembly held electronically the 27th of May 2020 elected the new Board Members and Governance. NTT DOCOMO was successfully re-elected as Board Member for the next term until GA#7 July 2021.

NTT DOCOMO PUBLISHED A PAPER ON 5G EVOLUTION AND 6G

Mobile communication systems generally evolve to the next generation over a period of around ten years. The company has researching the sixth generation (6G) mobile communication system that NTT DOCOMO plans to introduce on a commercial basis by 2030. This white paper summarizes the expected 6G use cases with related technical concepts and performance targets.

OPNFV DELIVERS SECOND RELEASE

On March 1st, OPNFV announced the availability of OPNFV Brahmaputra, the community’s second platform release. It delivers enhanced testing capabilities, improved automation and operator required feature enhancements such as fault detection and recovery, IPv6, layer-3 VPN, resource reservation, etc..

OPNFV 2015 AWARDS

OPNFV is a carrier-grade, integrated, open source platform for NFV to accelerate the introduction of new NFV products and services.

DOCOMO AND WORLD-LEADING VENDORS VERIFY FEASIBILITY OF NETWORK FUNCTIONS VIRTUALIZATION

NTT DOCOMO’S XI™ LTE SUBSCRIBERS TOP 10 MILLION

TOKYO, JAPAN, February 19, 2013 — NTT DOCOMO, INC., Japan’s leading mobile operator and provider of integrated services centered on mobility, announced today that subscribers to Xi™ (pronounced “crossy”), the company’s extra-high-speed LTE mobile service offering a maximum downlink of 100 Mbps, surpassed ten million on February 18.

MEET NTT DOCOMO AT MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS

NTT DOCOMO today announced that it will exhibit a variety of mobile products, services and technologies, including NFC international roaming and High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), a new global standard for video compression, at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona, Spain from February 25 to 28.
